Accessibility

Nashville Ballet is committed to making its programming and activities accessible and welcoming to all. Our staff is always available to answer questions and provide additional information on accessibility.

Building Accessibility

The Martin Center for Nashville Ballet’s main entrance, all public areas, restrooms, offices, and six studios are ramp accessible. A passenger elevator is available for access to the upstairs offices. The main performance space, inside Studio A, includes reserved wheelchair spaces at the floor level for all in-house performances and programs.

The Martin Center for Nashville Ballet’s parking lot, directly in front of the main entrance, includes eight reserved accessible parking spaces and ramp-accessible sidewalks leading to the main entrance.

Adaptive Dance

Adaptive Dance: New Perspectives is a universally-accessible dance program created by Occupational Therapist Hannah Mathews, OTD, OTR/L, and Linnea Swarting, former Nashville Ballet company member with adaptive dance education training. This tuition-free program provides an opportunity for children of all abilities to experience the joy of dance while developing body awareness, coordination, and balance in a traditional studio environment. More information can be found here.

Neurodiversity

Nashville Ballet is committed to making our environment as welcoming and inclusive as possible to neurodiverse individuals. Our organization has long-standing partnerships with AAIN (All-Access Inclusion Network) and TRIAD (Vanderbilt Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders) through which we have conducted training sessions for Nashville Ballet employees. We have collaborated with them on a variety of resources for neurodiverse individuals to enhance your experience at Nashville Ballet.

Sensory- Sensitive Notifications

Nashville Ballet welcomes everyone to our performances but we recognize that some of our ballets contain effects that might overwhelm or startle sensory-sensitive individuals. To help sensory-sensitive audience members prepare for a successful theater experience, we recommend reviewing the Sensory Sensitive Program Notes provided for each of our performances. Available on our website and in the performance program, our Sensory Sensitive Program Notes will identify loud noises such as thunderclaps, door slams, etc., or lighting effects like strobes, lightning bolts, etc. so patrons can use their own sensory behavior strategies.
