Abyss, a powerful digital ballet by Nashville Ballet’s very own Artistic Director and CEO Nick Mullikin, delves into mental health and the desire to escape one’s own mind. The work presents a thought-provoking experience that combines stunning choreography, evocative music and an intimate, cinematic approach to the storytelling through dance.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Nashville Ballet celebrated the centennial birthday of the late Country Music Hall of Fame member Chet Atkins by co-creating this original ballet performance video, set to Atkins’s recording of “Jitterbug Waltz” from the 1959 album “Chet Atkins in Hollywood.
The music video for “Crazy Hearts” by Wesley Dean, from his album Music From Crazy Hearts, is a compelling visual collaboration between the artist and Nashville Ballet. Directed by Jacobie Gray, the video features original choreography by Nick Mullikin and showcases the talents of Nashville Ballet dancers James Lankford and Lily Saito.
Wild Swans, a digital ballet, was filmed in May 2023. Nashville Ballet’s Choreographer Mollie Sansone worked closely with Artistic Director Emeritus Paul Vasterling and Artistic Director Nick Mullikin to create this unique children's ballet based on the fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson, set to music by Jean Sibelius.
