Choreographic Workshop

We are excited to share that two of our Second Company trainees will be leading the Choreographic Workshop for Levels 4-PD this year!

Aeron Buchanan

Company Dancer

Aeron’s training began at age ten at Maryland Youth Ballet and continued at The Washington Ballet. Additionally, he later trained at the Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA). While at BSA, Buchanan performed works by esteemed choreographers such as George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Christopher d’Amboise, and Anton Wilson. He also attended summer programs at Dance Theatre of Harlem, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The School of American Ballet, and Boston Ballet, all on full scholarships. After graduating from BSA in 2017, Buchanan joined Boston Ballet as a trainee, and in 2018, he joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as a Professional Division student. Those two years of growth and dedication led him to Cincinnati Ballet II in 2019, and after one season there he joined Nashville Ballet’s company as a Patricia and Louis Todd Family Foundation Apprentice. During his first season with Nashville Ballet, Aeron performed in a wide variety of classical and contemporary works, including Paul Vasterling’s Seasons, Jennifer Archibald’s Posters, and the broadcast premiere of Nashville’s Nutcracker.

Sarah Pierce

Company Dancer

Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Sarah Pierce has spent time perfecting her technique in Boston Ballet's pre-professional program before being promoted to a trainee in 2014. As a Boston Ballet trainee, she danced in productions with the company, among them Swan Lake and Gaité Parisienne. She also attended summer intensive programs at the School of American Ballet, Chautauqua School of Dance, and Canada’s National Ballet School as an exchange student. Pierce joined Nashville Ballet’s second company in 2016 and was promoted to apprentice in 2017 and full company member in 2018. In her time with the company, Pierce has appeared as Mattie in Cathy Marston’s Snowblind, Third Theme in George Balanchine’s Four Temperaments, the Dewdrop Fairy in Paul Vasterling’s Nashville’s Nutcracker, the Autumn Fairy in Vasterling’s Cinderella, the White Cat in The Sleeping Beauty, and one of the four cygnets in Swan Lake. She has had multiple lead roles created on her, including the title role in Vasterling’s Billie the Kid, the Living Soul in Vasterling’s Anthology, and the pas woman in Matthew Neenan’s Hilos. She has also performed in Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs, Balanchine’s Western Symphony, Jiři Kylián's Sechs Tänze, Val Caniparoli’s The Lottery, Matthew Neenan’s There I Was, Resident Choreographer Mollie Sansone’s Fortitudine, and Artistic Director Nick Mullikin’s Four Loves. Pierce has also danced in Vasterling’s Appalachian Spring, Seasons, Firebird, Carmina Burana, Lizzie Borden, Concerto, and Lucy Negro Redux, which she has performed on tour across the US and on film for Great Performance’s 50th season.
