Open House & Movement Taking Form Season Preview Performance
Celebrate National Dance Day by attending Nashville Ballet’s Open House at The Martin Center. This annual event offers a unique opportunity for patrons to experience the magic behind our upcoming 26/27 Season, Movement Taking Form. This season’s theme captures what happens when ideas become expression, when discipline becomes artistry, and when an organization begins to reveal, with greater confidence, the shape of its future.
Starting at noon, guests and their families will move through the building and have the opportunity to explore the world of ballet through adult dance classes, social activities, crafts, Q&A sessions with our production staff, and interactions with the talented artists who bring these stories to life.
Our box office and front desk will be open to purchase tickets for performances, enroll in classes at School of Nashville Ballet, or purchase Nashville Ballet merchandise. Our helpful staff will be throughout the building to answer any questions you may have or direct you to your next activity.
To bring the day to an exhilarating close, join us at 2 p.m. for a very special Movement Taking Form Season Preview performance. This one-hour program features excerpts from work being performed this season by our Company, NB2, and various levels of School of Nashville Ballet students.
Nashville Ballet believes the cost of tickets shouldn’t stand in the way of great art, so tickets for this special performance will be offered on a pay what you can structure. While the suggested donation per ticket is $10, everyone is welcome to attend regardless of the donation amount. Money collected through this event will go to support ballet operations including production costs, educational programs, and scholarships.

STUDIO A – Nashville Ballet Company Class Viewing
12 – 1 p.m.
Get a behind-the-scenes look at how Nashville Ballet’s professional dancers prepare for the stage. Watch the company take class together as they warm up, refine their technique, build strength, and hone the artistry and precision that bring every performance to life. Experience the dedication, discipline, and passion that happen before the curtain rises.
STUDIO C – Wellness Movement Classes (All Ages)
12 p.m. / 12:30 p.m. / 1 p.m.
Wake up your body and discover the benefits of movement in this welcoming wellness session. Enjoy gentle stretching, mobility exercises, and basic ballet movements designed to energize the body, improve balance, and leave you feeling refreshed.
STUDIO E – Arts & Crafts for Kids (On-going)
Allow your child’s creativity & imagination to run wild with a stop in Studio E for arts & crafts anytime throughout your Open House visit.
STUDIO F – National Dance Day Choreography
1:30 – 1:55 p.m.
Get moving and be part of the celebration! Learn the choreography for this year’s National Dance Day dance alongside School of Nashville Ballet instructors, then stick around after the season preview performance in Studio A, as we come together to film the finished dance at 3 p.m.
STUDIO G – School of Nashville Adult Classes
Step into the studio and experience the joy of movement with School of Nashville Ballet. Try one or more complimentary adult dance classes, designed for all experience levels—from complete beginners to experienced movers. Wear comfortable, moveable clothing and come ready to dance, explore, and have fun!

Visit the Costume Shop to discover the artistry behind what dancers wear onstage. Learn how costumes are designed, constructed, and thoughtfully created to move with—and enhance—the choreography.
Warehouse – Pointe Shoe Decorating
12-1:30 p.m.
Ever wondered what happens to a pointe shoe after it leaves the dancer’s feet? Get creative and transform a pointe shoe into a unique work of art while exploring one of the most recognizable symbols of ballet. Participants will be entered into a drawing for two (2) FREE tickets and a backstage Meet & Greet for our production of Cinderella in February. All who decorate a shoe will also receive a 10% off coupon for their purchase of tickets to see Cinderella.
