BIO

Growing up in North Carolina, Mollie Sansone began her dance training with such teachers as Melissa Hale-Coyle, Claudia Folts, Lisa Leone, Mel Tomlinson, Rebecca Massey, Patricia McBride, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, and Maniya Barredo. During the summers, she attended the Joffrey Midwest Workshop, Atlanta Ballet, and Nashville Ballet.

Sansone joined NB2 in 2004. Two years later, she was promoted into the main company. During her entire eighteen-year tenure, she has performed works by choreographers such as Paul Vasterling, Jirí Kylián, George Balanchine, Christopher Bruce, Salvatore Aiello, Val Caniparoli, Sarah Slipper, Jennifer Archibald, Gina Patterson, Stephen Mills, and Christopher Stuart. Her notable lead roles include Juliet in Vasterling’s Romeo and Juliet, Lizzie in Vasterling’s Lizzie Borden, Lady Macbeth in Vasterling’s Something Wicked, The Chosen One in Aiello’s Rite of Spring, the Turning Girl in Balanchine’s Who Cares?, Wendy in Vasterling’s Peter Pan, and the Sugar Plum and Dew Drop Fairy in Vasterling’s Nashville’s Nutcracker.

During off seasons, Sansone has performed as a guest artist at institutions like Quixotic and the former MOTION Dance Theater. Mollie has also performed as an actress in musicals like Carousel and West Side Story. In 2013, Sansone was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship by the Tennessee Arts Commission. She has accumulated several years of experience teaching all levels and genres of dance for organizations throughout Tennessee, including at School of Nashville Ballet. In recent years, she has choreographed original pieces for Nashville Ballet. After her latest Attitude premiere of Fortitudine, Sansone was titled Resident Choreographer for Nashville Ballet’s 2022/2023 season.
