BIO
Originally from Redlands, California, Annalyn Bakland began dancing at just nine years old. As a young student at the School of International Ballet, Bakland had the opportunity to perform Marius Petipa’s Cinderella and Don Quixote. At age 11, she competed in the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and continued onto the New York finals. Two years later, she won first place for classical variation in Los Angeles and once again continued onto the New York finals.

In 2016, Bakland received a scholarship to Ballet Idaho, where she danced in mainstage productions alongside the company as a pre-professional student. Two years later, Bakland joined Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Professional Division, where she performed notable works such as George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Bakland joined NB2, Nashville Ballet’s official second Company, in 2021. She has worked with Artistic Director Emeritus Paul Vasterling on his Billy the Kid, danced the lead role in Artistic Director and CEO Nick Mullikin’s He Loved Big Brother, and performed in Mollie Sansone’s Fortitudine. In 2022, Bakland was promoted to the main company as an apprentice.

When she’s not in the studio, Bakland enjoys thrifting and spending time with family and friends.
