While in elementary school, Daniel Rodriguez was introduced to ballet through National Dance Institute, a non-profit organization founded by former New York City Ballet star Jacques d’Amboise. From there, Rodriguez continued his training at Manhattan Youth Ballet and Laguardia High School of Music & Arts and Performing Arts.
In 2010, Rodriguez moved to North Carolina to join Charlotte Ballet’s second company where he was quickly promoted to their main company the following season. Rodriguez continued his career at Sarasota Ballet in 2012 and was promoted to coryphee there in 2015. Most recently, Rodriguez spent single seasons with Dayton Ballet and Kansas City Ballet in 2017 and 2018 respectively before joining Nashville Ballet at the start of the 2019-2020 season.
Throughout his career, Rodriguez has danced a diverse and impressive repertory including works by notable choreographers such as Sir Frederick Ashton, Jiří Bubeníček, George Balanchine, Jiří Kylián, Paul Taylor, Christopher Wheeldon, and Twyla Tharp. Rodriguez especially enjoys dancing Balanchine works due to the father of American ballet’s attention to musicality.
