Studio Division Provides Same Level of Training, More Flexible Schedule

School of Nashville Ballet is debuting a brand new Studio Division this fall, offering ages 8-18 of any experience level an opportunity to train with professional instructors on a flexible schedule. Studio Division joins School of Nashville Ballet’s diverse array of dance offerings for children, teens and adults.

For the fifth consecutive year, Nashville Ballet will host National Dance Day by offering free sample classes and choreography provided by the Fox hit reality show So You Think You Can Dance. Nashville’s Nutcracker Characters Stage Surprise Performances Across City

Nashville Ballet is cooling things off this summer with the return of its largest single ticket discount of the year, Christmas in July. Beginning Wednesday, July 1 and continuing for the entire month, take $12 off tickets to Nashville’s Nutcracker with code XMASJULY.

Nashville’s version of the timeless holiday classic returns to TPAC’s Jackson Hall for 13 performances December 5-23, 2015. Almost 200 dancers will take audiences on a fantastic journey through a dreamland filled with beloved characters, including the Sugar Plum Fairy, the Mouse King, the Nutcracker, the Dancing Bear and many historic characters from Nashville’s past. Since its debut in 2008, more than 20,000 people have attended Nashville’s Nutcracker each year.

Festive Event Officially Unveils Facility’s Expansion and Renovation

Nashville Ballet will unveil its newly expanded and renovated facility to the public at its free Family Grand Opening Celebration Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at The Martin Center for Nashville Ballet in the Sylvan Heights neighborhood.

The free family-friendly event will include interactive children’s activities, storytimes with Nashville Ballet dancers, free food, Peter Pan-themed arts and crafts, giveaways, face painting, balloon artists and more.

Nashville Ballet Company Dancer to Deliver Final Main Stage Performance

Nashville Ballet company dancer Sadie Bo (Harris) Sommer, who has performed with the organization since 2001, announced she will retire at the end of the current performance season. Sommer will dance in her final main stage performance as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for a three-day run April 24-26 at TPAC’s Jackson Hall.

Clare Bowen to Join John Oates as Musical Guest

Clare Bowen of ABC’s Nashville will accompany previously announced Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Member John Oates as the musical entertainment at Nashville Ballet’s largest annual fundraising event, Ballet Ball 2015, at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Saturday, March 7. Bowen will take the place of songwriting duo Striking Matches, who recently landed an impressive list of large European tour dates that conflict with Ballet Ball. Their presence will still be felt when Bowen performs their hit song When the Right One Comes Along.

John Oates and Striking Matches to Perform at Ballet’s Largest Annual Fundraiser

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Member John Oates and breakout duo Striking Matches will join forces with Nashville Ballet to perform at the company’s largest annual fundraising event, Ballet Ball 2015, continuing a tradition of combining ballet with Music City’s finest musicians and artists. 

On Saturday, March 7 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Oates will perform Hall & Oates hit She’s Gone and Lose it in Louisiana, a track off his 2014 solo album Good Road to Follow. Striking Matches will also play two selections, including When the Right One Comes Along, which was written for ABC’s Nashville, along with an original piece created specifically for this event.

Nashville Ballet and the Nashville Symphony are joining forces to present the family-friendly ballet Peter and the Wolf with live music on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. in TPAC’s Polk Theater. 

Beloved by parents and children alike for decades, Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev’s timeless tale follows brave young Peter after he mistakenly leaves his grandfather’s gate open, unleashing a memorable adventure for him and a cast of animal characters. For the first time in years, the Nashville Symphony presents live music for this production to create a more enriching arts experience for younger audiences.
