Originally from Noci, Italy in the province of Bari, Luca Sportelli began his training at the San Carlo Theater Ballet School in 2010. He continued his training under the direction of Silvia Humaila before coming to the United States in 2014 as a full scholarship student at San Francisco Ballet School.
From San Francisco Ballet, Sportelli went on to dance as a guest artist in numerous soloist roles at Kharkov Ballet. In 2016, he joined Columbia Classical Ballet in South Carolina for a season before returning to Kharkov Ballet. Sportelli considers the role of Jester in Swan Lake a personal favorite to perform; after being cast in the role while on tour in 2016, Sportelli felt a particular connection to the role describing it as representative of his own personality.
When not in the studio, Sportelli enjoys photography, watching movies, writing and cooking. He is looking forward to exploring Nashville and meeting countless new people in Music City.
