Kate Cofer, Ballet

Katelynn is thrilled to join the teaching faculty at School of Nashville Ballet. She received her BFA in Theater and Dance from the University of Wyoming in 2010. While in college, she had the privilege of working with several guest choreographers including former member of Pilobolus, Peter Pucci, and Graham Lustig from The American Repertory Ballet. She was also featured in an original contemporary ballet, Six Songs from Ellis Island, which was selected as the runner-up performance for the American College Theater Festival at the Kennedy Center.

Not limited by traditional dance styles, Katelynn has a strong background in aerial dance, which has taken her to open air performances at Vedauwoo, one of Wyoming’s most visited National Parks. While living in Maryland, she spent a season dancing with Ballet Theater of Maryland and two seasons with Bowen McCauley Dance Company. She was privileged to have performed three original works on the Kennedy Center stage, Lucy's Local Playlist, Fire and Air and Tableaux. Katelynn has had the joy of teaching and choreographing for Bowen McCauley Dance’s outreach program, Maryland Performing Arts Center, Maryland Youth Ballet and Prima Performance Studio of Franklin, Tennessee. She has also expanded her teaching practices into fitness classes such as Barre, Pilates and Zumba. All of Katelynn's experiences have shaped her dream of becoming a well-rounded teacher, performer and choreographer, and she is inspired to continue her dream with School of Nashville Ballet.
