Choreography Ann Marie DeAngleo
Music Conni Ellisor

"That this actually occurred will not be disputed, nor will a rational explanation be attempted." - Goodspeed History of Tennessee, 1887

"The Bell Witch is a grand entertainment." - The Tennessea

In honor of Halloween, the Ballet opens with The Bell Witch, Middle Tennessee's own real-life ghost story, based on the best-documented haunting in America. The audience is invited to participate by wearing 3-D glasses to maximize the special effects in this spine-tingling story. Also on the program is the Nashville Ballet premiere of George Balanchine's The Four Temperaments, an ingenious work of timeless appeal. This program will be accompanied by The Nashville Symphony Orchestra.

The Four Temperaments

Choreography George Balanchine
Music Paul Hindemith

On his way to becoming the most celebrated choreographer of his generation, George Balanchine created The Four Temperaments as a witty and ingenious exploration of the ancient belief that personality is determined by the body's balance of the four humors - Melancholic, Sanguinic, Phlegmatic, and Choleric. Which temperament rules you?
