Indianapolis School of Ballet, Academy of Ballet Internationale and the University of Oklahoma
Kristin Young began her serious ballet training at The Academy of Ballet Internationale in Indianapolis, Indiana. While there, she performed many student and company roles with coaching from Irina Kolpakova. Young also received training at the Indianapolis School of Ballet under the direction of Victoria Lyras, and spent summers at the Kirov Academy of Ballet, the School of American Ballet, the Harid Conservatory and Boston Ballet. After graduating high school, she received her BFA from The University of Oklahoma (OU) performing principal roles in The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Firebird, Carmina Burana and George Balanchine’s Divertimento No. 15.
After graduation from OU, Young was a guest artist with Tulsa Ballet performing in Twyla Tharp’s Push Comes to Shove.
Since coming to Nashville in 2011, she has performed with the company in Nashville Ballet’s Cinderella, Nashville’s Nutcracker, Billy the Kid, The Sleeping Beauty, Carmina Burana, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Peter Pan and Balanchine’s Serenade, as well as contemporary works by Gina Patterson and Christopher Stuart.
Young joined the main company as an apprentice in 2014 and was featured as a Leading Swan in Swan Lake and the Duck in Peter and the Wolf.
When she is not dancing, Young teaches at Cardio Barre and enjoys exploring Nashville and traveling.
