Christopher Stuart, originally from Sandy Hook, Conn., began his formal training with Steve Sirico, Angela D'valdaSirico, Franco Devita and Charles Kelley. He graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 2002 under the direction of Melissa Hayden, Warren Conover and Duncan Noble, then joined NB2 in 2002 and performed with the main company in many performances.
Since joining the company in 2003, Christopher has been featured in several pieces by renowned choreographers such as Paul Vasterling, Brian Enos, Peter Quanz, Gina Patterson, Sarah Slipper, Thaddeus Davis, James Canfield and numerous others.
Christopher has been featured as Renfield in Dracula, the Nutcracker Prince and Sugar Plum Cavalier in Nashville’s Nutcracker, Pas de Trios in Swan Lake, the Young Warrior in Salvatore Aiello's Rite of Spring, Melancholyin Four Temperaments, Mac in Lew Christensen’s Filling Station, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, the Prince Desire in The Sleeping Beauty, Romeo in Paul Vasterling’s Romeo & Juliet, and Macbeth in Vasterling’s Macbeth. He also performs as a guest artist with Quixotic Fusion, Missouri Ballet Theatre and National Choreographic Initiative.
His talents as a choreographer have led him to create pieces for NB2, Nashville Ballet, Quixotic and Ballet Arkansas. For Nashville Ballet’s Emergence performance in 2012, Christopher collaborated with ALIAS Chamber Ensemble and Watkins College of Art, Design & Film to create American Dreams, a choreographed work that explores the idea of breaking free from boxes and perceived limitations in our lives. In 2013 he choreographed a piece to country music singer Holly Williams’ song “Without You” at Nashville Ballet’s Ballet Ball. Mr. Stuart has also Choreographed music videos for Thom Donovan “Shipwreck” and Justin Nault’s “Puppet” In Nashville Ballets 2014 Attitude series he choreographed Under the Lights to the music of Johnny Cash, performed live by Sugar and the Hi-Lows. Ballet Ball 2014 he choreographed a piece for country super star Kellie Pickler. Chris also was a finalist in Ballet Arkansas' 2014 Visions Choreographic Competition. He is also a finalist in the 17th annual Choreography Festival held at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, CA
His artistic achievements won him the 2010 TN Arts Commission Individual Artist Fellowship, one of the highest honors that a Tennessee artist can receive. He was also a finalist in the 17th annual choreography festival of the NYCI Choreographic Fellowship held at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, CA.
Outside of the studio and theater, Christopher can be found at LP Field or Bridgestone Arena cheering on his favorite Nashville sports teams. He also is a avid golfer.
