Originally from Conyers, Ga., Kayla Rowser trained at the Magdalena Maury School of Classical Ballet in Fayetteville, Ga., with Georgia Youth Ballet under the direction of Magdalena Maury, Jonsie Pollock and Magda Aunon. She has spent her summers studying at American Ballet Theatre, Atlanta Ballet and the Washington Ballet, among others.
After graduating high school, Kayla joined Charleston Ballet Theatre for a season before joining Nashville Ballet 2 in 2007. In her two years as a trainee, she performed in Paul Vasterling's Carmina Burana and Nashville's Nutcracker, as well as Balanchine's Four Temperaments.
Kayla joined the main company as an apprentice in 2009, where she performed as Zulme in Giselle, Balanchine's Who Cares and Vasterling's Awaiting Redemption.
Since being promoted to company member in 2010, Kayla has performed as the Dew Drop Fairy and Sugar Plum Fairy in Nashville’s Nutcracker, Pas de Trois in Swan Lake, Cupid in Vasterling’s Carmina Burana, in Salvatore Aiello’s Afternoon of a Faun, Gina Patterson’s Cryin’ Out and in Sarah Slipper’s Postcards from the Boys. She was featured as the title role in Nashville Ballet’s 2012 performance of Firebird.
Kayla has developed a love of teaching ballet to young students and is working towards a degree in Communication Arts at Nashville State Community College.
